Upgrade your Boiler and Save
There are many ways to save energy within your home,
and having an A rated boiler is a great place to start.
Upgrade an old Gas Boiler
Many homes on the Island running Gas central heating and hot water, are doing so using boilers as low as rated D grade. Simply upgrading to an A rated boiler can help you save hundreds of pounds over the year.
Switching from Oil to Gas
An old oil boiler can seem like it could last forever and this is often the case, however they are incredible inefficient meaning they burn more fuel than is necessary. D rated boilers with thermostat and no controls can be upgraded to an efficient A graded gas boiler with hundreds of pounds to be saved on the burning of unnecessary fuel.
5 free and easy tips
Here are some free, quick and easy things you can do to help reduce your energy bills.
Try not to overfill the kettle
Try not to overfill the kettle – Boiling more water than you need uses more energy, so only fill your kettle with the amount you need.
Turn off your devices
Turn off your devices – A lot of devices around the home use electricity without you noticing, even when on standby. Try to switch them off at the wall and don’t leave things on when you are not using them.
Washing at 30°C
Washing at 30°C – Washing at lower temperatures will reduce the energy of each of your washes, and with modern washing tablets you often don’t need to wash at higher temperatures to achieve a great clean.
Take 1 minute off your shower
Take 1 minute off your shower – Taking 1 minute off your shower can reduce your hot water consumption quite a lot and it doesn’t cost you a thing. Maybe use a timer to remind you when to finish.
Turn down your thermostat by just 1 degree
Turn down your thermostat by just 1 degree – The room thermostat turns your heating system off once the set temperature is achieved in your home. Turning it down by just 1 degree will have a big impact on your heating bill.
